PCSO: Bukidnon mayors support small town lottery; Zubiri issues warning
In published press releases, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) says that all Bukidnon mayors have expressed their “total support” to the Expanded Small Town Lottery (STL) program. Bukidnon Governor Jose Ma. Zubiri, Jr., however, had a warning.
In a published Manila Times article, for instance, it was stated that PCSO Chairman Jose Jorge Corpuz “invited the (Bukidnon) officials to encourage their constituents to support PCSO’s products and services.”
Corpuz, according to the article, met with the Bukidnon mayors last August 10 at the Kaamulan Folk Arts Theater in Malaybalay City, the capital of the province.
The Small Town Lottery is under Trento Gaming and Leisure Corporation.
For his part, Bukidnon Governor Zubiri, in his August 30, 2017 radio program aired via DXGG Happy FM, revealed that representatives of the STL operator have indeed met with him and have presented a permit that covers the entire country. Zubiri said that he asked the operator to provide an individual permit, meaning it should be Bukidnon-specific. He added that he instructed the STL operator to acquire the proper clearance from the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (Provincial Council) first.
Zubiri then emphasized that if no clearance has been issued yet then any small town lottery operation is deemed illegal as far as the laws of the Province of Bukidnon are concerned.
