2 dead in Malitbog, Bukidnon landslide due to alleged treasure hunting
On Monday, August 25, 2025, a tragic landslide in Malitbog, Bukidnon claimed the lives of two farmers who were reportedly searching for treasure in the area.
According to the investigation, three farmers from Sitio Sawike in Barangay Patpat, aged 49, 53, and 41, had ventured to higher ground around 3 p.m. to engage in treasure hunting activities when disaster struck.
The landslide engulfed all three men. While the 49 year old farmer managed to survive, rescue teams recovered the 53-year-old’s body first. The remains of the third victim, aged 41, were found several hours afterward.
